Changing times for Young Sons
Hello, this is Kwame, for all the fans and people who have
listened and fallen in love with our music; we thank you for making
our careers so memorable. We thank you for listening to our albums,
shouting for us at concerts and dancing with us on stage at shows.
From our first album, Sounds of Thunder (when we went by the name
Frimps) to our latest album, Spit to da Street, (and now known as
Young Sons) you all have been so faithful and supportive. We have
learned so much not just about the music industry but about ourselves,
work and people. The concerts, performances and albums have given us
more confidence to seek our goals in the future. Now comes a new year
filled with major opportunities, changes, regrets and hardships for
our group.
As
I head off to college at University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) this fall
I embark on yet another adventure as an Undergraduate Freshman. I am
aiming to be a Neurosurgeon and will major in Biological Basis of
Behavior. Aside from music, I have always had an interest in the brain
and the way it functions. I have taken numerous classes in high school
such as psychology and AP Biology in an effort to further my interest
in neurobiology. However as I enter college I will not discard and
deny that my first true love is music especially Hip Hop. It will be
difficult to continue our group Young Sons as I enter college due to
distance from my brother and the fact that we both will be seriously
focused on school.
Although our efforts will be low-key, we will surely jump at any
real opportunity that comes our way.
By joining different clubs and making new acquaintances at college I
may find myself performing with a new hop-hop group or maybe even a
new genre of music. There is even a chance I might minor in music and
try a solo career, no matter what I will always be in touch with music
somehow. Finally for our fans, Young Sons may still be together in the
future making the “bangin’” hits that you all have been “bouncin’”
to since 1999 but for now we will both head our separate ways
fulfilling our own hopes and dreams.
In fact, Young Sons has completed albums much better than and
different from the previous productions but the plan is not to release
them until we get the full support of a Label, so the music is not yet
dead! Who knows, there may be some surprises. Stay in touch! We’ll
keep writing and producing, so don’t count us out yet.
